Liz Taylor interred in Forest Lawn

GLENDALE, Calif., March 24 (UPI) -- Screen icon Elizabeth Taylor, who died Wednesday, was interred Thursday in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif., E! News said.

Taylor died of congestive heart failure at age 79.

E! News said the private family ceremony at the cemetery's Great Mausoleum lasted about an hour.

The mausoleum also is the final resting place of movie stars Clark Gable and Jean Harlow, as well as pop singer Michael Jackson, Taylor's longtime friend.

A public memorial is being planned for Taylor, her publicist said.

Taylor was an AIDS activist and actress who won Oscars for her work in "Butterfield 8" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" She was also known for her eight marriages to seven men -- she married actor Richard Burton twice.

The star is survived by four children and 10 grandchildren.

Theater marquees on Broadway are expected to be dimmed Friday for one minute at 8 p.m. in Taylor's honor, E! News said.
