Eklund's Web site crashes after Oscars

LOWELL, Mass., March 1 (UPI) -- Dicky Eklund's Web site crashed after Welsh actor Christian Bale mentioned him in his acceptance speech when he won an Oscar for playing him in "The Fighter."

Bale picked up the Best Supporting Actor Oscar Sunday for playing Eklund, a 1970s-era boxer whose addiction to drugs cost him his career. Eklund has since gotten his act together and works as a boxing trainer.

Bale said in his acceptance speech anyone looking for a good trainer should check out the real Eklund's Web site.

Dicky's daughter and publicist Carrie Eklund told TMZ the Web site received so many hits after the mention that the servers crashed.

Computer technical sources told TMZ the site usually gets about 500 hits a day but since the Oscars has been attracting about 10,000 a day.

Carrie Eklund said her dad is ready to get to work with his new clients.
