
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- The animated "Gnomeo and Juliet," with the voice of Patrick Stewart among others, led the U.S. box office during the weekend with more than $14.21 million.
"Hall Pass," with Owen Wilson, was a close second with $13.42 million.
All studio estimates of gross U.S. receipts are via Box Office Mojo, which said it would cover the Oscars through Twitter beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern and 5 p.m. Pacific Time Sunday.
"Unknown" was third, close behind the leaders with more than $12.43 million; "Just Go With It" was fourth with $11.1 million; "I Am Number Four" fifth with more than $11.03 million; "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" sixth with $9.2 million; "The King's Speech" was seventh with more than $7.61 million; "Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son" eighth with $7.55 million; "Drive Angry" was ninth with more than $5.13 million.
"The Roommate" rounded out the top 10 with $2.05 million.
