NEW YORK, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Actress Kathleen Turner is to return to Broadway in Matthew Lombardo's new play "High," the show's producers announced Friday.
To be directed by Rob Ruggiero, the play will begin previews March 25 and open April 19 at Manhattan's Booth Theatre.
The cast also includes Stephen Kunken and Evan Jonigkeit.
"'High' explores the universal themes of truth, forgiveness, redemption and human fallibility," a synopsis said. "When Sister Jamison Connolly (Turner) agrees to sponsor a 19-year-old drug user in an effort to help him combat his addiction, her own faith is ultimately tested. Struggling between the knowledge she possesses as a rehabilitation counselor and a woman of religious conviction, she begins to question her belief in miracles and whether people can find the courage to change."
Turner returns to Broadway following her performance in the 2005 Tony Award-winning revival of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" She also has starred in Broadway productions of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," "Indiscretions" and "The Graduate."
Her film credits include "Body Heat," "Romancing the Stone," "Prizzi's Honor" and "Peggy Sue Got Married."
