'Network' tops DVD sales, rental charts

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- The award-winning Facebook origins picture "The Social Network" is the top-selling DVD and No. 1 rental in the United States, Rentrak reported Thursday.

Coming in at No. 2 on the DVD sales roster for the week ending Jan. 16 is "Alpha and Omega," followed by "Machete" at No. 3, "Dinner for Schmucks" at No. 4 and "Despicable Me" at No. 5.

Rounding out the top tier are "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" at No. 6, "The Last Exorcism" at No. 7, "Piranha" at No. 8, "Salt" at No. 9 and "The Other Guys" at No. 10.

The second best rental for the week ending Jan. 15 is "Dinner For Schmucks."

"Salt" is No. 3, "Resident Evil: Afterlife" is No. 4, "Machete" is No. 5, "The Town" is No. 6, "Case 39" is No. 7, "The Other Guys" is No. 8, "Piranha" is No. 9 and "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" is No. 10, Rentrak said.
