LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor has undergone surgery to amputate three quarters of her leg, one of her doctors in California told TMZ Friday.

Gabor's husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, said last week he had authorized doctors to administer anesthesia to the 93-year-old star and give her an MRI to determine the best way to treat a blood clot in her leg.

Gabor developed complications last year after having surgery to repair a broken hip.

TMZ quoted an unnamed doctor as describing Friday's operation at UCLA Medical Center as a success but said Gabor is being closely monitored because of her age.

When Gabor is expected to be released from the hospital was not reported.
