NEW YORK, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Principal photography has begun in New York on "Friends with Kids," starring Adam Scott and Jon Hamm, the independent feature film's producers said Friday.

The movie is being made by Hamm's Point West Pictures and Red Granite Pictures. Also producing are Joshua Astrachan and Lucy Barzun Donnelly through their Locomotive production company and Jake Kasdan. The film is executive produced by John Sloss and Mike Nichols.

Written and directed by Point West producer Jennifer Westfeldt, whose previous films include "Kissing Jessica Stein" and "Ira & Abby," "Friends with Kids" is described in a synopsis as a "daring and poignant ensemble comedy about a close-knit circle of friends at that moment in life when children arrive and everything changes."

The cast also includes Westfeldt, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Chris O'Dowd, Megan Fox and Edward Burns.
