LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Actress Sophia Bush says Christina Green, the 9-year-old shot and killed in Saturday's shooting rampage in Arizona, was her second cousin.

Christina was one of six people killed in the shootings at a political event hosted by U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz. Also killed was Federal Judge John Roll.

Fourteen people -- including Giffords, who was shot in the head and critically injured -- were hurt in the shooting spree.

Jared Lee Loughner, 22, the accused shooter, was arrested and is being held without bond.

UsMagazine.com reported Bush, a cast member of TV's "One Tree Hill," talked about the shooting of her young cousin on Monday's "Chelsea Lately" program.

"It's been a lesson more than anything for me and for my family that life is incredibly short," Bush said.

"You've gotta take every day and tell the people you love that you do," she said. "It's easy to get heated and to scream and yell about what's going on in this world ... . It's really important for all of us to take a step back."
