LOS ANGELES, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband has given doctors permission to perform risky surgery to treat a blood clot in the Hungarian-born actress' leg, TMZ said.

Prince Frederic von Anhalt told the celebrity news Web site Friday he has authorized doctors to administer anesthesia to the 93-year-old actress and give her an MRI to determine the best way to treat the clot.

Von Anhalt told TMZ his wife's age and various health issues make the procedure "very risky" and doctors will amputate half her leg if the clot cannot be removed.

Gabor developed complications last year after having surgery to repair a broken hip.
