'Avatar' was 2010's most pirated film

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Hollywood's sci-fi blockbuster "Avatar" was the most pirated film of 2010, downloaded illegally online nearly 17 million times, TorrentFreak said.

The Hollywood Reporter said that figure represents a 33 percent increase from last year's most pirated film, "Star Trek," which was downloaded almost 11 million times.

Coming in at No. 2 on the 2010 piracy list is "Kick-Ass," followed by "Inception" at No. 3, "Shutter Island" at No. 4 and "Iron Man 2" at No. 5.

Rounding out the top tier are "Clash of the Titans" at No. 6, "Green Zone" at No. 7, "Sherlock Holmes" at No. 8, "The Hurt Locker" at No. 9 and "Salt" at No. 10, The Hollywood Reporter said.
