PARIS, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Johnny Depp admits he feared he might fall into Venice's murky Grand Canal in Italy while shooting a stunt for his new film "The Tourist."

Depp earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical Tuesday for his work in the film. The movie was also nominated for Best Comedy or Musical, while his co-star Angelina Jolie was mentioned for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical.

"I ended up doing quite a lot of the stunts in this thing," Depp said at a recent press junket in Paris to promote the film. "Running across the rooftops was the least of my worries, really. The most fear that I felt about anything in this movie was being handcuffed to a railing on a boat and being dragged down the Venice canals. I wasn't worried about collision, I was worried about going into the drink because those waters -- they're a complete mystery. Three days later, you might find yourself growing a thumb out of your forehead, so that was my fear."
