LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Gia Mantegna is to serve as Miss Golden Globe 2011 for the upcoming 68th annual Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said.
HFPA President Philip Berk made the announcement Thursday at the first party of the 2011 Golden Globe awards season. The event was held at Cecconi's in West Hollywood, Calif.
Mantegna is the daughter of actor Joe Mantegna and Arlene Vrhel.
Miss Golden Globe assists during the Golden Globe Awards ceremony.
The 68th annual Golden Globe Awards show is to air Jan. 16 live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles with Ricky Gervais serving as host.
"We are thrilled to have Gia as this year's Miss Golden Globe," Berk said in a statement. "She is just as talented as she is beautiful and will surely be a great addition to the show."
"I am honored to be part of this wonderful ongoing tradition created by the HFPA. I have grown up watching the Golden Globes with my family and feel so fortunate to be part of such a magical evening so early on in my career," Mantegna said.
She stars in TeenNick's new television series "Gigantic," which takes a fictional look at the complicated lives of children of Hollywood celebrities.
