HOLLYWOOD, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Investor Carl Icahn nominated an economics professor and the president of his own investment firm to serve on the board of directors of Lionsgate Entertainment.
The five nominees are Icahn's choice to replace some of the 11 incumbent board members who will be voted on at Lionsgate's shareholders meeting Dec. 14.
The Hollywood Reporter said Saturday the Icahn list includes: Icahn Enterprises President Daniel Ninivaggi; Harold Shapiro, an economics professor at Princeton University; Canadian television producer Jay Firestone; Michael Dornemann, a former executive with Bertelsmann Entertainment; and former Overton Films CEO Chris McGurk.
Lionsgate management has been urging shareholders to reject Icahn's moves to take over the direction of the studio. THR said the studio said Icahn had "not articulated a vision for Lionsgate regarding how he would improve" the studio's financial performance.
