LOS ANGELES, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- U.S. director Matthew Wilder said on Facebook Monday Malin Akerman is replacing Lindsay Lohan in his Linda Lovelace bio-picture "Inferno."

"We are so honored to have Malin and know that she will kill it," UsMagazine.com quoted Wilder as writing on Facebook.

Wilder said during the weekend Lohan, who has been battling addiction and legal problems for several years, is no longer attached to play the famous porn star in his upcoming film.

"We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support," Wilder said at the time. "Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her -- and some other issues -- have made it impossible for us to go forward."

Akerman's film credits include "Couples Retreat," "Watchmen" and "27 Dresses."
