15 documentaries in the race for Oscar

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Nov. 18 (UPI) -- The list of Oscar-eligible feature-length documentaries has been pared to 15, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The academy said 101 pictures had originally qualified in the category. The 15 films eligible for nomination are, in alphabetical order: "Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer"; "Enemies of the People"; "Exit through the Gift Shop"; "Gasland"; "Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould"; "Inside Job"; "The Lottery"; "Precious Life"; "Quest for Honor"; "Restrepo"; "This Way of Life"; "The Tillman Story"; "Waiting for 'Superman'"; "Waste Land"; and "William Kunstler: Disturbing the Universe."

The 83rd Academy Awards nominations are to be announced Jan. 25 in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Oscars for outstanding film achievements of 2010 are to be presented Feb. 27

at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.
