LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences honored Eli Wallach, Francis Ford Coppola, Kevin Brownlow and Jean-Luc Godard at a ceremony in Hollywood.
The four were feted at the 2nd Annual Governor's Awards for their contributions to cinema Saturday night, The Hollywood Reporter said.
Coppola was recognized for his work as a producer, Brownlow for his work as a film historian, Wallach was recognized for his acting and Godard was honored for his directing.
Godard was unable to attend the ceremony, but his award was accepted on his behalf by Academy President Tom Sherak.
"Tonight, we will give the Academy's highest honors to four people," Sherak said. "Those four people couldn't be more different from each other, and I couldn't be happier about that. I have tremendous pride in my Academy's governors for voting this awards to such a creatively diverse group."
Wallach, 94, attended the event at the Highland & Hollywood ballroom with his wife of 62 years, Anne Jackson.
"I'm deeply moved by this honor. Your recognition of my artistry means something very dear to me. I don't act to live. I live to act," Wallach said in accepting his award.
