NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Belgian-born film actor Jean-Claude Van Damme is recovering from a minor heart attack he suffered on a New Orleans movie set, his representatives say.
MTV News said the 50-year-old action star fell ill Tuesday before he was to begin filming his scenes for "Weapon" in the U.S. city. He was briefly hospitalized in New Orleans and returned to Belgium after he was released.
Production on the movie, which was partially shot in Romania, has been suspended while Van Damme recuperates.
"He is OK," his representatives told MTV via e-mail.
