Fox 2000 picks up Beach Boys flick

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Fox 2000 won the bidding for a Beach Boys movie modeled on the hit stage show and movie "Mamma Mia."

The still untitled project is not a biopic, The Hollywood Reporter said. "Mamma Mia" featured the music of the Swedish group ABBA as the inspiration for the story.

The producers include Craig Zadan and Neil Meron of "Hairspray," as well as John Stamos, who has been a drummer with the Beach Boys. Susannah Grant is to write the script.
