LONDON, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- British author and actor Stephen Fry has been cast in the role of Sherlock Holmes's older brother in Guy Ritchie's sequel to his 2009 film "Sherlock Holmes."

Hollywood film star Robert Downey Jr. played the titular sleuth in the hit movie and is set to reprise the role in the second installment in the franchise, which is due in theaters in December 2011.

Fry confirmed to the BBC his plans to play Mycroft Holmes, the Victorian-era detective's smarter but lazier sibling, in the as-yet-untitled sequel.

"That sort of part is fun," Fry said.
