LOS ANGELES, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Lindsay Lohan could be released from jail, after a California judge blocked an earlier decision to jail her without bail for failing drug tests, lawyers said.

The star of "Mean Girls" and "Freak Friday" was taken into custody after a hearing Friday in Beverly Hills, Calif., and was ordered jailed until Oct. 22. The random drug testing is a stipulation of Lohan's probation for a 2007 driving under the influence arrest.

Lohan served nearly two weeks in jail and underwent treatment for drug and alcohol addiction this summer for violating her probation in the case. She recently admitted she failed two drug tests after leaving rehab.

Under the ruling issued late Friday by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Patricia M. Schnegg, Lohan will be permitted to leave jail if she posts $300,000 bail, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Schnegg's ruling blocks the earlier order by Judge Elden Fox sending Lohan to jail and denying bail.

Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, said she believed Fox's ruling was legally incorrect because it came in a case involving probation of violation for a misdemeanor conviction.
