PARIS, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Hearts broke when U.S. actor George Clooney said Tuesday his single days are behind him and he's settled down with his Italian girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis.

Clooney told reporters in Paris "I'm with someone" when asked about his availability, the Italian news agency ANSA reported Tuesday.

"I'm extremely happy with my private life. I'm lucky enough to live with sweet company, to be in good health, to have wonderful friends and a formidable family," Clooney said. "I couldn't dream for better."

Clooney, who spends a lot of time at his Lake Como villa, was first seen last year with Sardinia-born Canalis, 31, a television personality and actress.

The Oscar and Golden Globe award actor-director-producer headlines "The American," which took the No. 1 spot at the weekend U.S. box office with more than $12.96 million in estimated gross receipts.
