HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor John Cusak will play author Edgar Allen Poe in the upcoming film "The Raven," the project's producers announced.

The fictional thriller will feature Cusak as the pioneering horror writer teaming up with a detective to solve real-life murders in 1840's Baltimore that mimic his stories, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Producers Aaron Ruder and Glen Basner of FilmNation said director James McTiegue was scheduled to begin shooting in late October.

The filming will take place in Serbia and Hungary.
