Actor Paul Ryan Rudd dead at 70

GREENWICH, Conn., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Broadway actor Paul Ryan Rudd has died of pancreatic cancer at his Greenwich, Conn., home. He was 70.

Rudd, who died Thursday, "came to his profession late and left it early," bringing his acting talents to productions of "The Glass Menagerie" (1975), "Streamers" (1976) and "Romeo and Juliet (1977), The New York Times reported Sunday.

"Paul Rudd makes a taut-nerved Romeo, his handsome face either tense with pain or almost consciously relaxed and sunny. He speaks the verse very well, with intelligent nuances, and his ardent death wish at the end is most impressive," reviewer Clive Barnes wrote in the Times.

Rudd's film credits include John F. Kennedy in 1977's "Johnny, We Hardly Knew Ye" and 1978's "The Betsy."
