NEW YORK, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Wallace Shawn, Justin Kirk, Dan Stevens and Todd Barry have joined the cast of Hollywood's upcoming horror comedy "Vamps," its producers said.

Red Hour Films, Lauren Versel and Maria Teresa Arida of Lucky Monkey Pictures, and producer Molly Hassell made the announcement Monday.

Written and to be directed by Amy Heckerling, the movie is the modern-day tale of two beautiful young vampires -- Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter -- living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize her immortality, the producers said in a news release.

Filming is to begin this week in Detroit.

The actors join the previously announced cast featuring Sigourney Weaver, Richard Lewis and Kristen Johnston.
