LOS ANGELES, July 29 (UPI) -- Richard Lewis' publicist has confirmed the U.S. actor and comedian landed a role in the horror-comedy "Vamps," with Sigourney Weaver and Alicia Silverstone.

Lewis is to play Danny, a former student activist who now works as a lawyer with the American Civil Liberties Union.

The movie is being directed by Amy Heckerling, with Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld producing.

Principal shooting is to start in August in Detroit.

Lewis is best known for his work on TV's "Anything But Love" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm," as well as in the films "Leaving Las Vegas," "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" and "Drunks."
