LOS ANGELES, July 14 (UPI) -- Spanish film stars Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz were married in an intimate ceremony in the Bahamas this month, Cruz's publicist told People.com.

The couple, who are known for keeping their relationship private, first met on the set of "Jamon, Jamon" in 1992. They reportedly started dating in 2007.

Few details about their wedding were released to People.com Wednesday other than that the ceremony took place at a friend's house and Cruz wore a gown designed by her longtime friend John Galliano.

Bardem won an Oscar for his work in 2007's "No Country for Old Men," while Cruz picked up her Oscar the following year for her performance in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."
