Elliott Kastner dead at 80

LONDON, July 3 (UPI) -- U.S. film producer Elliott Kastner, whose credits include "Where Eagles Dare" and "A Little Night Music, died in London at age 80.

Kastner, a former literary agent and vice president of production at Universal Pictures, spent many years working at Pinewood Studios in London, where he died June 20, the Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

Kastner's breakout film as an independent producer came in 1966 with "Harper" starring Paul Newman. Other hits followed including "Where Eagles Dare (1968), "A Little Night Music" (1977), "Garbo Talks" (1984) starring Anne Bancroft, "Angel Heart" (1987) with Mickey Rourke and "Sweet November" (2001) with Keanu Reeves.

Kastner is survived by a son, Dillon, a daughter, Milita, and three stepsons.
