LONDON, July 2 (UPI) -- An anonymous bidder bought "Silver Liz," Andy Warhol's 1963 portrait of screen siren Elizabeth Taylor, for $10 million at a London auction, Christie's said.

The BBC reported the work had not been seen in public for more than 20 years before it went on display for the auction.

The portrait, one of 12 paintings Warhol created while the "Giant" and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" actress was recovering from an illness, had been expected to sell for $9 million to $12 million, the BBC noted.
