LOS ANGELES, May 28 (UPI) -- Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will replace Megan Fox in "Transformers 3," Access Hollywood reported.

While a newcomer to movie acting, Huntington-Whiteley is familiar to "Transformers" director Michael Bay, who directed her in a VS commercial last year, the celebrity Web news site reported Friday.

The model will play a new character opposite Shia LaBeouf's character, Sam Witwicky, in the latest installment.

Fox announced earlier this month she would not return for the third "Transformers" movie.

Filming has begun for "Transformers 3," which has a scheduled July 1, 2011 release date.
