LOS ANGELES, May 19 (UPI) -- Lindsay Lohan's lawyer says the actress lost her U.S. passport in France and won't be able to make a scheduled court appearance in Los Angeles Thursday.

The hearing was set up to see if the 23-year-old star of "Freaky Friday," "The Parent Trap" and "Mean Girls" has been complying with the terms of her probation for a 2007 drunken driving conviction.

"I don't know if it was stolen or lost, misplaced," CNN quoted Lohan attorney Shawn Chapman Holley as saying about the actress's passport. "It's gone."

Holley said Lohan, who was in France to attend the Cannes Film Festival, is now waiting for a replacement passport from the U.S. Embassy in Paris.

"She is doing everything in her power to get back to the [United] States, but I don't think it's possible," Holley told CNN Wednesday.
