HOLLYWOOD, May 18 (UPI) -- Director Damian Chapa says he will begin filming this summer on an unauthorized feature film about the life of Hollywood screen icon Marlon Brando.

The start date for "Brando Unauthorized" is July 5. Amadeus Pictures LLC is executive producing the project along with Judith Connolly.

The film is expected to focus on the actor's childhood and his relationship with his son, Christian Brando, the producers said.

Chapa is to play Marlon Brando, while his son, Ricco, will play Christian.

"It's an intense story. We're going to carefully base the film on public-domain records," Damian Chapa said in a statement.
