The film is expected to focus on the actor's childhood and his relationship with his son, Christian Brando, the producers said.

Chapa is to play Marlon Brando, while his son, Ricco, will play Christian.

"It's an intense story. We're going to carefully base the film on public-domain records," Damian Chapa said in a statement.
