NEW YORK, May 13 (UPI) -- Film actress Christina Ricci is to make her Broadway debut in "Time Stands Still," the play's producers announced Thursday.

The Tony Award-nominee for best play is scheduled to resume performances Sept. 23 on Broadway at a Shubert theater to be announced.

The show is on hiatus while star Laura Linney films her new TV show "The Big C."

Ricci is best known for her work in the movies "The Addams Family," "Casper," "Mermaids," "Monster," "The Ice Storm," "The Opposite of Sex," "Speed Racer" and "Penelope."

In "Time Stands Still," Ricci will join previously announced original cast members Linney, Brian d'Arcy James and Eric Bogosian. The play is written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Donald Margulies and is directed by Tony Award-winner Daniel Sullivan.

Alicia Silverstone starred in the play's initial performances but had a scheduling conflict and could not resume her role when the producers announced plans to continue playing on Broadway in the fall.
