NEW YORK, April 23 (UPI) -- Hollywood film star Gwyneth Paltrow is to serve as a guest panelist on the relationship reality series "The Marriage Ref," NBC announced.

The Oscar-winning star of "Shakespeare in Love," "Emma," "Sliding Doors" and "Iron Man" is to appear on the May 6 edition of "Ref," alongside fellow marriage "experts" Jerry Seinfeld and Greg Giraldo.

"Each week couples from across the country will face off to settle their marital tiffs, which run the gamut of disagreements -- quirky, funny, relatable -- all with the signature Seinfeld tone," a synopsis of the show said. "The couples that present their problems will be given a call by the Ref, popular comedian Tom Papa, just like in sports."

Paltrow has been married to British rocker Chris Martin since 2003. They have two children together.
