LOS ANGELES, March 31 (UPI) -- New Line is working on an updated version of the 1980 military comedy "Private Benjamin," The Hollywood Reporter said.
Comic actress Anna Faris is set to play the title character depicted by Goldie Hawn in the original film, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
"Benjamin" is about a privileged young woman who enlists in the U.S. Army after her husband dies on their wedding night.
Faris is best known for her work in the "Scary Movie" franchise, as well as in the films "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," "The House Bunny" and "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs."
New Line is also working on remakes of "National Lampoon's Vacation" and "Police Academy," The Hollywood Reporter noted.
