LOS ANGELES, March 16 (UPI) -- Actor Jason Segel has been cast in the upcoming Muppets movie he co-wrote and is producing, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Segel is best known for his work on TV's "Freaks and Geeks" and "How I Met Your Mother." He co-starred in the big-screen comedies "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "I Love You, Man."

James Bobin, a producer-director on "The Flight of the Conchords," is to direct the as-yet-untitled Muppets movie, the report said.

Although the storyline is being closely guarded, Segel is expected to play a human who tries to find and bring back together the various creatures, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
