Alan Tudyk joins 'Rockford' pilot

LOS ANGELES, March 11 (UPI) -- Alan Tudyk has been cast opposite Dermot Mulroney in the remake of the U.S. private investigator series "Rockford Files," The Hollywood Reporter said.

Tudyk previously starred in the short-lived science-fiction show "Firefly" and had recurring roles on "Dollhouse" and "V." His film credits include "A Knight's Tale," "I, Robot," "Serenity" and "Death at a Funeral."

The actor has signed on to play Detective Dennis Becker, a friend of P.I. Jim Rockford, who is hated by most of the police with whom Becker works, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

Mulroney is to play Rockford in the pilot.
