LOS ANGELES, March 5 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Scott Caan has signed up to play Danny "Danno" Williams in the new version of the classic TV series "Hawaii Five-O."

James MacArthur played the role of Danno in the original show, which ran from 1968 to 1980.

Caan, 33, is best known for his work in the "Ocean's Eleven" trilogy, as well as the films "Varsity Blues," "Ready to Rumble" and "Gone in 60 Seconds." The son of veteran actor James Caan also has a recurring role on TV's "Entourage."

The Hollywood Reporter said he recently signed up for the role of Danno in CBS's "Hawaii Five-0" remake, alongside Alex O'Loughlin and Daniel Dae Kim.
