LOS ANGELES, March 2 (UPI) -- British actor and comedian Russell Brand has signed on to star in a remake of the 1981 Dudley Moore comedy "Arthur," Variety said Tuesday.
Jason Winer, who directed the pilot of the hit sit-com "Modern Family," is to direct the remake of "Arthur," a film about a hard-partying playboy who falls in love with a New York waitress. The new version was penned by Peter Baynham, one of the writers of Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat" and "Bruno," the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
Brand's film credits include "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "Bedtime Stories" and "St. Trinian's."
