LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Oscar-nominated film director Kathryn Bigelow has signed on to direct a Broadway-themed pilot called "The Miraculous Year" for HBO, Variety reported.

Bigelow was recently nominated for the best director Academy Award for her Iraq War picture "The Hurt Locker."

Variety said she is executive-producing the HBO pilot for "Year" as well as directing it, while her close friend, playwright John Logan, is to serve as its writer, executive producer and creator.

The possible series would follow "a charismatic, self-destructive Broadway composer and his family in New York," the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
