LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Reports claiming Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have split up are "totally false," an unnamed source close to the Hollywood couple told People.com.
Britain's The News of the World said Pitt and Jolie have consulted divorce attorneys in Los Angeles to permanently end their five-year relationship.
The tabloid reported Saturday the unmarried couple agreed to share their large fortune and custody of their six children, three of whom are adopted. The children would live with Jolie.
The News of the World said the film stars consulted a lawyer late last year and signed an agreement in early January.
"The contract was like a tailor-made version of a prenuptial agreement except for an unmarried couple's split," an unnamed source said. "It seemed clear they want the world to know they'll both play a part in the upbringing of the children."
Pitt, 46, and Jolie, 34, began their relationship while playing married hired guns in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."
People.com said multiple sources deny Jolie and Pitt have broken up.
"Everything is fine," one source said.
Another insider told People.com the British tabloid report is "totally false."
