NEW YORK, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- U.S. singer, actress and film producer Jennifer Lopez says she thinks she should have won an Oscar for her work in 2007's "El Cantante."

The New York Post quoted the star as saying she thinks she didn't win because members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences didn't see her independent movie.

"It's their responsibility to ... see everything that's out there, everything that could be great," the Post quoted Lopez as saying. "It is a little bit frustrating."

Lopez, who also has starred in "Selena" and "The Wedding Planner," said she has not given up hope that she might still win film's top honor.

"I have the utmost faith and no doubt that it will (happen) one day," she said.
