LONDON, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Hollywood screen icon Sylvester Stallone says he needed surgery after he broke his neck shooting a fight scene for his upcoming movie, "The Expendables."
"I haven't told anyone this, but I had to have a very serious operation," he told NME Magazine.
The BBC said the 63-year-old "Rocky" and "Rambo" actor sustained the injury during a fight scene with wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin. Stallone reportedly had surgery to have a metal plate inserted in his neck afterward.
"The Expendables" is due in theaters later this year.
