LOS ANGELES, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- A man suspected of being a paparazzo crashed his bike into a car owned by actress Anne Hathaway in West Hollywood, Calif., authorities say.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said the unidentified man was carrying a camera with a large, telephoto lens when he collided with the side of Hathaway's Audi Wednesday, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

"If he's not a paparazzo, he's an avid bird watcher," Whitmore said of the man, who reportedly refused medical treatment, left the scene and was not arrested.

Hathaway, 27, was a passenger inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. The "Rachel Getting Married" actress's boyfriend, Adam Shulman, was driving, Whitmore said.

The Times reported Hathaway and Shulman were not hurt.
