Rene Russo to co-star in 'Thor'

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Rene Russo is to play Frigga, the mother of the title character in Kenneth Branagh's upcoming comic-book adaptation "Thor," sources told Variety.

The movie's cast also includes Anthony Hopkins, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes and Natalie Portman.

It is set to begin shooting next month for a 2011 theatrical release.

Russo is best known for her work in "Tin Cup," "Lethal Weapon 4," "Freejack," "Get Shorty" and "The Thomas Crown Affair."
