Teen solves centuries-old math problem
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Robert De Niro said he can relate to his "Everybody's Fine" role as a father trying to bond with his children.
The 66-year-old actor said just like his character Frank Goode in his new movie, he struggles to stay close with his children while allowing them each to grow up and become independent, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.
"You're aware of time going by," De Niro told the Times. "My whole thing now is just to have the strength to keep my kids in line and get them to the point where they're independent and self-reliant. I want to make sure my kids know I'm there, and you've got to have the stamina to do that."
The 66-year-old actor, who has five children from two marriages and a long-term relationship, said he would like it if they were to remain near his native New York so they can stay close.
"Everybody's in New York and, hopefully, my younger kids will go to college in New York and find something they want to do so they'll stay in the city," said De Niro, who also has two grandchildren. "I like the kids to be around."
