HOLLYWOOD, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- There will be five contenders for the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said Tuesday.

Nominations for the 67th annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony are to be announced Dec. 15. The winners are to be revealed Jan. 17.

Philip Berk, association president, said members voted last week to expand this year's number of nominations in the Best Animated Feature category to five.

According to association guidelines, the Globe is not awarded in this category if fewer than eight animated movies qualify.

If fewer than 12 animated films qualify, the category is limited to three nominations per year.

Although the group did not say how many animated films qualify to be nominated this year for the animated Golden Globe, 20 movies were submitted for nomination consideration for the animated Oscar.
