CHICAGO, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Colin Farrell, Gary Mule Deer and Regie Hamm are to take part in a Chicago benefit for The Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics, organizers said.

The group's "Evening with the Stars" includes dinner, dancing and a silent auction to raise money for research toward a cure for the rare neurological disorder.

Deer, a comedian and musician, has agreed to headline the benefit, which will also feature a speech by Farrell, a Golden Globe Award-winning actor, and a performance by singer/songwriter Hamm.

Both Farrell and Hamm have children diagnosed with AS.

"We are excited about the progress we've made in helping to find a cure for Angelman Syndrome," Paula Evans, founder and chairwoman of FAST, said in a statement. "Because this disorder is so often misdiagnosed, it's important for us to raise awareness and funds to continue the great strides we've already achieved. We hope to surpass last year's success with yet another fantastic evening."

Farrell said he is "extremely proud" to support the group.

"The families involved with FAST have created a strong support network while tirelessly assisting those dedicated to finding a cure," he said.
