LOS ANGELES, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Dennis Hopper's manager says the film star is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer under a special program at the University of Southern California.

The 73-year-old actor has appeared in the classic films "Rebel Without a Cause," "True Grit," "Easy Rider," "Apocalypse Now," "Blue Velvet" and "Hoosiers." He recently finished work on Season 2 of the TV drama, "Crash."

"We're hoping for the best," his manager, Sam Maydew, told E! News.

Hopper was hospitalized Sept. 30 with flu-like symptoms and gastrointestinal problems, but was released the next day and said to be feeling "much better," E! noted.
