NEW YORK, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson have signed on to star in a new Broadway production of Arthur Miller's "A View from the Bridge," producers said.

The latest adaptation of the family drama will be directed by Gregory Mosher at Manhattan's Cort Theatre, with performances scheduled to begin Dec. 28 and the official opening is set for Jan. 24.

The limited engagement will run for 14 weeks.

"In 'A View from the Bridge,' Miller's most passionate drama, Schreiber will play Eddie Carbone, a Brooklyn longshoreman obsessed with his 17-year-old niece Catherine, played by Scarlett Johansson," a synopsis of the play provided by producers indicated. "When Catherine falls in love with a newly arrived immigrant, Eddie's jealousy erupts in a rage that consumes him, his family, and his world."

Additional casting will be announced in the coming weeks, the producers said.

Schreiber recently starred in the movies "Taking Woodstock" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

Johansson is best known for her work in the films "Lost in Translation" and "Girl with a Pearl Earring."
